Elmise Adam has been working at HAS for the last 13 years. She started as a nurse in maternity and now she is a midwife.
“I was always interested in continuing my education so that I could be more useful and hold more responsibility in maternity. HAS provided that opportunity. I like helping with the birthing process.
In Haiti, there are so many maternal health deserts and too many pregnant women who die. There is not enough care for them. Some women arrive here at our hospital in a terrible state. We bring them back to life. We get to see them regain their strength and walk home with their babies.
I’m grateful to be a part of this crucially important institution for both the local community and the country of Haiti.”
