$10K Rum Event Raises More than $15,000 for HAS

Posted on September 16, 2015 by HAS Haiti

More than 100 of Pittsburgh’s most successful emerging entrepreneurs, special guests, and longtime HAS donors gathered September 10 at Maggie’s Farm Rum Distillery in Pittsburgh, PA, for the second annual rum tasting to benefit HAS.  The event raised more than $15,000 to support the hospital’s greatest needs.  Special guest speaker, Allegheny County Chief Executive Rich Fitzgerald, said, “HAS represents one of the best qualities of Pittsburgh – that we care about others less fortunate and do all we can to help.”

Pittsburgh comedian and popular local radio personality Bill Crawford served as emcee.  In addition to Maggie’s Farm, which donated the venue and proceeds from cocktail sales, sponsors and donors included HAS Board members Tom Succop and Jo Ann Succop, real estate investment company RE360, Nationwide Insurance, ModCloth, 31st Street Studios, ImageBox, and Elite Renovation.  In addition, raffle and silent auction prizes were donated by Fit 4 Boxing Club, Wanderlust Jewellery, Joe and Heidi Orlando, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Event host committee members included Pittsburgh City Councilman Daniel Gilman, Scott Rogerson of Community Elf, Deborah Todd of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Dr. Colleen Krajewski, Dr. Megan Quimper, and Restaurateur’s Bobby Fry and Kevin Sousa.
