A series of guest hosts are filling in at Jeopardy!’s lectern for charity this season, and the week of April 19th through the 23rd, Hôpital Albert Schweitzer will be the big winner!
Award winning journalist and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will take his turn running the game starting April 19th and he has selected HAS as his designated charity for that week. Anderson has long felt a connection to Haiti and the resilience and dignity of its people. When he first visited Haiti as a young journalist, Anderson saw the challenges many people faced every day and admired the buoyant spirit with which struggles were faced. He was there in Haiti in the hours following the 2010 earthquake and gained an even deeper appreciation for the determination of the Haitian people – and the many medical needs that are unmet.
Jeopardy! will make a contribution to HAS matching the cumulative winnings of all contestants who compete during this week, so please tune in every day to watch the total grow!
We send our gratitude to Anderson and to Jeopardy! for joining our thousands of friends and supporters around the globe in championing the work of HAS and the amazing people we serve.
Mèsi Anpil! Thank you!
So happy to see this. A fitting tribute.

Thank you
Thank you for your support and heart for Haiti. I have a special love for the people of Haiti.
On the third day after the earthquake in Haiti, Anderson Cooper came out to Deschapelles to report on the crowds of injured people at HAS, one of the only hospitals still functioning. I guided his team through the hospital, interpreting for the patients. Cooper asked me to say something but I demurred. He told the team to shut off the cameras and asked me how I was doing, and after a few words, I broke into tears. Cooper caught the moment. He apologized, but said it was a powerful image. Cooper was a gracious and sensitive professional, and captured the strength of the injured patients and their families.
The next day my son Edward, who was living in Miami, called to tell me that I was on the television. One day later he came to Haiti to help, and stayed, to guide several restoration projects. Edward and his cousin Nick (and countless others) spent years in Haiti working on various projects with HAS.
Haiti deserves to be in the spotlight for all that it is and the hope that is there, not just the tragedy and loss.
Thank you
Félicitations, Anderson!! !!
The much-watched ‘Jeopardy!’ is a fantastic, national platform for HAS, and our extraodinary near -neighbor, Haiti!
