First European Alumni Award Dedicated to Ian Rawson

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Courtney

The 7th Reunion of the HAS Haiti Alumni Association Europe took place at Bienenberg/Basel/Switzerland September 7 – 9, 2012. Around 100 former employees, volunteers and interested people from Haiti, US, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Spain and UK participated at the meeting. At the beginning of the September 8 session the new CEO of HAS, Louis Martin from Geneva was also introduced to those in the auditorium.

A special event had occurred at the end of the September 8 session when Dr. Severin Meili, President of the European Alumni Association and Raphaela Maibach were presenting the First European Alumni Award, a beautiful double crystal of the Swiss Alps. This Award has been given to Ian Rawson for his many years of dedication, competent leadership and devotion to the spirit of “Reverence for Life”, exhibited by the work of Albert Schweitzer. As Dr. Meili said in the presentation, Ian Rawson integrates the quality of crystal clear thinking, solid endurance, well defined edges and preservation for the future, that the association thought was appropriate for the recipient of the award. Congratulations to Ian and best wishes for the future at this crossroad of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti!
