The mountain community of Tienne is in the far reaches of the HAS service district. There, the lack of water, soil, natural resources, education and employment opportunities all combine to make this among the poorest of the communities we serve. With poverty comes the risk for disease. We have seen higher than usual rates of malnutrition and cholera in Tienne.
Art is a powerful educator. Paintings can communicate better than the written word. Art celebrates the vibrant Haitian culture. With support from the Rotary District 7020 Donor Advised Fund, local artists have created a mural at the Tienne health center. These beautiful paintings tell simple stories that will help save lives.
