The acclaimed theatre, live music and projected image production about the worldview that changed the Modern Age: We are Brothers and Sisters to all Living Things.
In 1908 Albert Schweitzer, a world-renowned musician, Bach scholar and theologian, left these careers behind to study medicine. In 1913 he founded his hospital at Lambaréné in French Equatorial Africa, where he coined the phrase that would position him as one of the great 20th century humanists: “Reverence for Life”
Forty years later, Larimar Mellon of Pittsburgh was inspired by Schweitzer to give up his privileged life to medicine and in 1956 to found Hôpital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti. Mellon and his wife Gwen devoted the rest of their lives to their hospital, which still serves the people of the Artibonite Valley.
Now, the magnificent organ, intimate acoustics and St. James’ Musicians and readers reunite Schweitzer’s thoughts with the music that helped define him.
