Alan Leber, brother of HAS Manager of Supply Chain and Logistics Dan Leber, rallied family and friends to raise an impressive $4,022 through a bowling event held at The Gutter Bowling Alley and Bar in Brooklyn, New York, on April 27, 2014.

100% of the proceeds were donated to HAS to support the hospital’s most urgent needs, including Dan’s work ensuring that supplies and equipment are managed cost-effectively.
“Being proud of what my brother is doing for the hospital, I wanted to find a way for our friends and myself to contribute and to make a big difference too,” said Alan.
The bowling tournament drew about 150 attendees and 64 participants, and ended with a close match for the first-place trophy.
“My number one reason to be here is to help Haiti, which is good because I bowled terribly!” said John Vaghi, an enthusiastic participant who also designed the event’s website.
“Anytime sports and a good cause are combined, I’m there,” said Anna Waring, one of the event organizers and a participant of the “Palatial Regalia” team, which also included Alan.
Dan Leber came to work for HAS in 2012, after visiting the hospital with his mother and HAS partner Brothers Brother Foundation in 2011. Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University in 2010 and studied abroad in Niamey, Niger and Geneva, Switzerland.
“I am extremely grateful to have the support of family and friends who believe in the mission and my work at HAS, a worthwhile organization that puts the people it serves first and foremost,” said Dan, “I love my job because the hospital’s operations improve every day, and being part of that is rewarding.”

A big thank-you from HAS to Dan and tournament organizers Alan Leber, Dave Viccaro, Hyojin Park, Amanda Christenbury, Anna Waring, Lynn Caruso, Roman Ryba and Liz Irr.
HAS also thanks Brooklyn businesses who donated raffle prizes, pizza, and beverages, with special thanks to The Gutter Bowling Alley and Bar, Brooklyn Brewery, Greenpoint Trading Company, Vinnie’s Pizza, and Southpaw Vintage Inc.
