HAS Loses a Friend

Posted on June 29, 2016 by HAS Haiti

Known as a pioneer in Silicon Valley, Tom Perkins was truly a champion for HAS.

For a number of years, the founder of one of the first venture capital firms opened his home to HAS and the Silicon Valley philanthropic community to discuss HAS and the hospital’s ability to provide much needed care and improve smart healthcare in a challenged setting.

Through his generosity and support, the 2015 reception he hosted at his home San Francisco raised nearly $175,000—a truly remarkable amount of much-needed funds for the hospital—and brought new friends and supporters to HAS. This event was extraordinary for the atmosphere and company. Remarks by Mr. Perkins’ friend and cardiologist at California Pacific Medical Center and HAS medical volunteer Dr. Charles Morris, highlighted the need for support for HAS and a performance by singer and actor Franc D’Ambrosio brought a great positive energy to the entire event.

Mr. Perkins’ spirited support enabled HAS to continue its mission to provide high quality, compassionate care to those who are most in need and will be missed by the HAS community.

Details of the 2014 event can be seen at https://hashaiti.org/bay-area-business-community-leaders-step-support/
