Haiti is experiencing an increasing number of COVID-19 cases and a state of emergency has been declared. One of the most critical resources for treating COVID patients is oxygen. Hôpital Albert Schweitzer finds itself in the unique position of being able to fill oxygen tanks on campus to remain self-sufficient but also provide assistance to nearby clinics and health centers.
Thanks to USAID Project Santé, HAS now has two oxygen filling stations, a large one which has the capacity to fill 60 tanks per day, and a smaller one which can fill 24 tanks daily. With both units running non-stop, HAS is able to greatly help our neighboring clinics and hospitals with the severe oxygen shortage that is currently happening due to an increase in demand.
With this new 24/7 run time HAS is experiencing an increase in energy costs. There is also a shortage of oxygen tanks for us to be able to fill and replace at maximum capacity.
In order to meet our immediate needs, HAS needs your help in raising $15,000 to meet the urgent need for oxygen that we are faced with today.
